Self Certification

Since 1982, employees taking time off work for reasons of ill-health, are required to complete a self certificate themselves to cover the first 7 successive calander days. 


After this time, continuing absence are supported by a doctors statement on the usual form Med 3. 


If a sickness certificate is required for the first 7 successive days, a medical certificate can be issued for a standard British Medical Aoostiation reccommended fee.  Normally we would ask the employer to pay this fee and the patient should present to reception with the required fee to ask for a certificate if this is still required.
